Sasakwa Vikings Shutout Paoli Friday Night on Senior Night

The Sasakwa Vikings hosted the Paoli Pugs for their last game of the regular season and senior night. Sasakwa dominated the game in Viking fashion with a shutout victory to go into the Playoffs with home field advantage.

Sasakwa honored three of their seniors: Josh Branscum, Jenson Luna and Trenten Mack.

Sasakwa junior Sherman Mitchell was on fire in the first quarter. The Vikings lit up the score board when Sherman Mitchell scored a touchdown on a 9-yard run. Two-point conversion was converted by Thad Harjo.

At the halfway point of the first, Mitchell scored on a 5-yard rushing touchdown. The 2-point conversion was converted by Titus Collins The Vikings’ next offensive drive, Mitchell scored on a 30-yard touchdown run to go up 24-0 with the 2-point conversion by Joseph Lunn to end the quarter.

The Vikings continued where they left off with their offensive pressure in the second quarter.

Quarterback Thad Harjo connected with Titan for a 65-yard touchdown pass to add to the Viking lead.

Quarterback Harjo got in on the action on the Viking’s next offensive drive with a 25-yard touchdown run. Jo Jo Lunn scored the two points.

On the Pugs offensive drive, the quarterback throws an interception. Viking Braydon Lamb intercepts but then fumbles the ball and the ball was picked up by Mitchell who ran the ball 38 yards in for the touchdown. The extra point failed.

The Pugs could not get anything going on offense and turned the ball back over the Vikings.

With less than two minutes left in the first half, the Vikings were pressuring again on offense and QB Harjo connected with Darius Henderson for a 25-yard touchdown pass. Senior Trenten (Fayv) Mack scored the two-point conversion to seal the win for Sasakwa.

Final score of the game was Sasakwa Vikings 54, Paoli Pugs 0.

The Sasakwa Vikings won the District C-4 Championship this season and are 9-1 on the regular season.

The Vikings have home field advantage on Friday the 14th. Sasakwa will take on the South Coffeyville Lions for their first round of the playoffs.

The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
