Sasakwa Vikings Get Big Win in First Round of Playoffs
Last Friday night was the first round of the 2025 OSSAA Football Playoffs for the Sasakwa Vikings. After the Vikings won their District Title, it was time for the playoffs and the Vikings matched up against the South Coffeyville Lions who entered the game 3-5 in Class C.
The Vikings received the ball first to start the game. Both teams battled throughout the first half of the quarter with no score.
Midway through the quarter, Sasakwa lit up the scoreboard when running back Titus Collins scored a rushing touchdown from 2-yards out to put the Vikings 6-0 in the first.
The Lions answered back at the top of the second quarter with 8 points.
Sasakwa went back to work on offense. This time through the air. Quarterback Thad Harjo connected with wide receiver Titan Collins for a 25-yard touchdown pass to regain the lead.
Before the first half was up, the duo hooked up again, this time for a 45-yard touchdown pass.
The Vikings took a 18-8 lead into the half.
The Lions’ defense slowed the Vikings offense in the third quarter and held them scoreless.
Sasakwa went back to their game plan on offense and lit up the score board with Sherman Mitchell punching in the ball from 4-yards out for the touchdown.
The Lions continued to fight in the quarter and added six more points to their score.
The Vikings never let off the gas and scored another rushing touchdown from 2-yards out by Titus Collins.
The Vikings had a big lead but put the game away with another score by the QB and WR duo of Harjo and Titan Collins for a 55-yard touchdown pass.
The Sasakwa Vikings continue to sail on with another victory with a final score of 37-14 over South Coffeyville.
The Vikings move on the second round of the playoffs to face the Tipton Tigers tonight.
The Vikings are home, and the game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
