OSU Cowgirl Softball Adjusts Schedule for Iowa State Series

Posted in:

Ames, IOWA - Winners in eight of its last nine games, the No. 19/20 Oklahoma State softball team (25-10 overall, 7-5 Big 12) returns from its bye week with a road trip to Iowa State (23-15 overall, 4-8 Big 12).

The Cowgirls and Cyclones open the series at 4 p.m. CT on Friday before Saturday’s 1 p.m. CT first pitch. The series finale is set for Sunday at noon CT.

Oklahoma State is ranked No. 19 in the GoRout/NFCA Coaches Poll. The ESPN. com/USA Softball Top 25 ranks the Cowgirls at No. 20, while Softball America has the Pokes at No. 20 and D1Softball has OSU at No. 18. In the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), the Cowgirls are No. 23.

Iowa State is unranked. The Cowgirls were picked to finish second in the Big 12 Conference with one first-place vote in a poll by the league’s head coaches.

Iowa State has been a tricky opponent in recent years for OSU, as the Cyclones have won the series the past two seasons. Looking at the full series history, however, OSU is 83-29 against Iowa State, including a 25-13 mark in games played in Ames. OSU is 23-8 in the Gajewski era against the Cyclones.

Iowa Game Update

Due to expected inclement weather in the central Iowa region on Saturday, the No. 19/20 Oklahoma State softball team’s schedule for its weekend series at Iowa State has been updated.

The Cowgirls and Cyclones will now play a doubleheader tomorrow, April 10, beginning at 1 p.m. CT, with game two following 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

Sunday’s series finale remains unchanged, with first pitch set for noon CT.

All three contests can still be streamed on ESPN+ or heard on the Varsity Network app with Ryan Breeden on the call.
