New Lima Host the Bowlegs Bison Monday Night
The New Lima Falcons hosted the Bowlegs Bison directly after the Annual Bowlegs Tournament this past week.
The Falconettes won their match as the Falcon boys fell in a close game on Monday night.
The Lady Falcons started the evening off and took off with the early lead on a 12-3 run in the first. Aubrey Washington helped the Falconettes with six points scored.
The Lady Bison struggled again on offense in the second but rallied up 9 points in the quarter. Lady Falcon Jazzy Harjo knocked down a threepoint shot and a bucket from the field to help New Lima stay in the lead.
The Lady Bison were down by twelve points heading into the third quarter.
The defense of the Lady Falcons continued with the pressure and held Bowlegs to 4 points scored in the frame. The New Lima offense soared again in the third with Harjo finding her threepoint range again and knocking down two more treys.
The Bowlegs Lady Bison found their rhythm in the final quarter and rallied back with 15 points. Lady Bison’s Marybeth Dunagan and Kasin Kolander found their three-point range, but the Falconettes offense never let up and cruised in for the win with a final score of 55-31.
Leading the way for the Lady Bison was Kloe Oyler with 8 points, one trey and was one of seven from the free throw line.
Ruthie Dunagan scored seven points on the evening.
Leading the way for the Falconettes was Aubrey Washington with 24 points and was six of fourteen from the free throw line.
Jazzy Harjo scored 17 points. Three coming from three-point shots.
The Falcons boys were ready to take the court with the Bowlegs Bison next.
The Falcons started fast and took the early lead but the Bison boys fired back and kept the game close.
The Falcons had a five-point lead heading into the second quarter but next eight minutes was a tug-of-war with the scoreboard as both teams scored nine points each.
New Lima still had the lead to start the second half.
Bowlegs Bison Kingston Burgess was on fire throughout the night as he had found his threepoint range in the game. Burgess had scored three treys in the first quarter and matched it with three more in the third to help to close the gap, but the Offense of the Falcons were still ahead by three points, heading into the fourth.
New Lima could not continue with their momentum in the final frame and struggled on offense. The Bison boys continued with their pressure and took the lead and won the game with a final score of 56-52 in a very close game.
Leading the way for the Falcons was Blaze Carter with 13 points and one three-point shot.
Justin Spencer scored 12 points and was two of four from the line.
Logan Heard scored 10 points and two treys.
Leading the way for the Bison was Kingston Burgess with 21 points, all coming from three-points shots (7).
Darius Morrison scored 12 points on the evening.
