New Lima Falconettes Win Big Over Wilson-Henryetta Thursday
The New Lima Falconettes hosted the Wilson- Henryetta Lady Tigers Thursday evening and took control of the game after the second inning.
The Lady Tigers went to bat first and went three and out at the top of the inning. The Falconettes got some hits but couldn’t light up the scoreboard either.
The defense of the Lady Falcons held the Lady Tigers scoreless in the second. New Lima Falconette Aubry Washington scored on a steal of home to help New Lima take the early lead.
Wilson-Henryetta scored a run at the top of the third to tie the game up.
The Falconettes took control of the game at the bottom of the inning when Krissy Griffis scored on a ground ball, Layla Cecil scored on a fly ball, Jazzy Harjo scored on a passed ball and Jaylee Ipock scored on a ground ball.
New Lima had a 5-1 lead at the top of the fourth inning and continued to apply the defensive pressure, holding the Lady Tigers scoreless in the inning.
New Lima went back on offense and added to their lead when Washington and Cecil scored on a fly ball.
The Lady Tigers could not recover and again went three and out in the fifth. The Falconettes sealed the win with Karli Johnson scoring on a ground ball and Mackenzie Burden scored on a walk.
The New Lima Falconettes won at home with a final score of 9-1.
Pitching for New Lima was Jazzy Harjo who pitched five innings allowing one run, striking out two and walking two.
Next up for New Lima Lady Falcons is an away game at Depew on the 22nd and the final home game of the season is on the 23rd against the Wewoka Lady Tigers.
The home game is set to start at 4:30 with the junior high starting first, followed by the high school.
