New Lima Falconettes Host Mill Creek in Double Header
The New Lima Falconettes hosted the #13 Mill Creek Lady Bullfrogs in a double header Thursday evening, but things didn’t go the Lady Falcons way.
The Lady Bullfrogs entered the game on a fivegame winning streak and went to bat first. The Lady Bullfrogs went three and out at the top of the first.
New Lima didn’t have much luck either in the first inning with zero runs.
Mill Creek took the lead with a single run in the second. The Falconettes continued to struggle on offense.
The Lady Bullfrogs added to the score with two more runs in the third to make it 3-0. The Lady Falcons went scoreless through four innings.
At the top of the fifth inning, the Lady Falcons held the Lady Bullfrogs scoreless and took advantage at the bottom of the inning when Aleah Barns scored on a fly ball, Layla Cecil also scored on a fly ball and Alyssa Marchbanks scored on a ground ball to tie the game.
New Lima needed to continue on defense and hold the Lady Bullfrogs, but Mill Creek added one more run to extend their lead by one.
New Lima struggled again on offense and could not find their momentum to make a comeback.
Mill Creek won the first game 4-3.
Pitching for the Falconettes was Abagail McCulley who pitched seven innings, allowing four runs, five walks and one strikeout.
In the second matchup of the day, the Lady Bullfrogs started the game off at bat and also got on the board with four runs scored.
The Falconettes answered back with two runs to close the gap. Krissy Griffis scored on a walk and Aleah Barns scored on a ground ball. The Falconettes stepped up their defense and held the Lady Bullfrogs scoreless in the second.
New Lima took the lead at the bottom of the inning with Mackenzie Burden, Karlie Johnson and Barns scoring on a fly ball and Aubriana Washington scored also on a fly ball.
New Lima had a 6-4 lead heading into the third and continued to hold the Lady Bullfrogs scoreless in the inning. Abigail McCulley scored another run for New Lima on a ground ball.
The Mill Creek Lady Bullfrogs closed the gap with two runs scored at the top of the fourth.
New Lima still had a one run lead heading into the fifth inning. Mill Creek took control of the game with five runs scored at the top of the inning. New Lima could not find the momentum they had and went three and out.
Mill Creek had a fourpoint lead heading into the seventh and final inning. The Lady Bullfrogs added one more run in the inning to extend the lead. The Lady Falcons could not answer back and fell to the Lady Bullfrogs 7-12.
