New Lima Defeats Schulter Bulldogs on Senior Night
On Senior Night, the New Lima Falcons hosted the Schulter Bulldogs for their next to the last game of the regular season.
The Falconettes started the evening off and took control from start with Aubrey Washington and Krissy Grifis knocking down a three-point shot each in the frame to help New Lima go on a 14-6 run in the quarter.
The Lady Falcons applied the pressure in the second both on offense and defense. Falconette Jazzy Harjo hit three treys for a total of 13 points in the quarter as the Lady Falcon defense held the Lady Bulldogs to just 4 points scored. The Falconettes had a 29-point lead heading into the third quarter.
The Lady Falcons let off the offensive gas during the third quarter, but the defense continued to battle and again held the Lady Bulldogs to 4 points scored.
The lead of the Falconettes was to much for Schulter to catch up to but continued to fight to the end of regulation.
The New Lima Falconettes won 53-16.
Leading the way for the Falconettes was Jazzy Harjo with 19 points and three three-point shots.
Aubrey Washington scored 12 points, one trey and was two of six from the free throw line.
Next up was the Falcons boys.
The first quarter was a battle as both teams had a shootout, but the Falcons edged out the Bulldogs by one point at the end of the first.
New Lima went on the attack on offense in the second with Waylon Neal scoring three treys and Logan Heard knocking down a trey to help the Falcons go on a 29-14 run in the second quarter.
The Schulter Bulldogs were down by 16 points heading into the third quarter.
Schulter stepped up their defense and held the Falcons to 12 points scored but could not close the gap with the opportunity.
New Lima went to the air in the fourth quarter as the battle continued. Neal and Hunter Martin found their three-point range in the frame. Schulter also scored 14 points in the quarter but still fell to New Lima.
The final score of the game was 67-51 New Lima.
Leading the way for New Lima was Waylon Neal with 34 points, 8 three-point shots and was two of three from the line.
Logan Heard scored 9 points and one trey.
New Lima hosted the Strother Yellowjackets Monday night for their last game of the regular season. The Falconettes fell 14-59 and the Falcon boys fell 33-66.
New Lima now heads into District Playoffs this coming Friday at Mill Creek.
The Falconettes will play Mill Creek Lady Bullfrogs Friday at 6 p.m. and the Falcon boys will play Mill Creek Friday at 7:30 p.m.
