Maud Tigers Win at Home on Homecoming Night
The Maud Tigers took on the Maysville Warriors Friday night for their homecoming game. The Tigers had rubber band games on the night.
The Tiger boys started the evening off after the homecoming festivities.
Maud took control of the game in the first quarter. Micah Brooks and Colt Abott both knocked down a threepoint shot, and Treat Marshall scored 8 points from the field. The defense shut out the Warriors in the frame.
The Tigers continued to roll in the second and went on a 14-5 run with Carsyn Bodkin hitting two treys in the quarter.
The Warriors were facing a 25-point deficit heading into the third. Maysville found the goal a few more times in the quarter but the Tigers continued to roar on offense with four three-point shots in the quarter by Abbott, Devin Brown (2) and Nate Amburn.
The Tigers slowed down in the final frame and coasted in for the win. The Maud Tigers won the game with a final score of 54-22.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Treat Marshall with 12 points and was 0-1 from the free throw line.
Colt Abbott had 8 points, two treys and was two for two from the line.
The Maud Lady Tigers took to the court next to face the Lady Warriors. Maud had a slow start to the game as the Lady Warriors took the lead with a 17-5 run in the first.
The Lady Tigers tried to close the gap more with Abi Horton knocking down a trey to excite the crowd.
At the break, the Lady Tigers were facing a 16-point deficit. Maud settled down a little bit and scored ten points in the frame. The defense slowed down the Lady Warriors a bit, but the lead was their other issue.
The Lady Tigers could not catch Maysville before the end of regulation and fell 31-50.
Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Aubri Kueneman with 11 points, one trey and was two for two from the free throw line.
Abi Horton had 9 points and had one three-point shot.
Next up for the Tigers is a home game today against Verden.
The game is set to start at 6:30 p.m.
