The Maud Tigers Win Big in Their First Round of the Playoffs Friday Night at Home
The Maud Tigers had home field advantage Friday night for their first round of the OSSAA Class C Playoffs against the Bluejacket Chieftains. The Chieftains came into the game with a 6-3 record on the season.
The Maud Tigers also came into the game with a 6-3 record with a recent 46-0 shutout victory over Fox on the 7th.
The Tigers jumped on the board first with wide receiver Koi Street scoring a 6-point touchdown. The Chieftains answered back with a touchdown to tie things up.
The Tigers stepped on the gas and didn’t look back. Maud Tiger Jonathan Lamas scored a rushing touchdown and quarterback Trenton Marshall added another touchdown before the quarter was up.
The Chieftains were down by 8 points heading into the second quarter.
Maud lit up the score board first in the second to make it 26-12. The Bluejackets closed the gap again with a TD and the two-point conversion.
Maud extended their lead right before the half with another touchdown.
The score was Maud 34, Bluejackets 20 to start the third. A defensive battle from both teams played a big part in the frame as neither team scored.
The Tigers took a 20-point lead to start the fourth quarter. The Chieftains continued to battle but allowed the Tigers to extend their lead again with another six-point touchdown.
Bluejacket never gave up and scored 8 points before the end of regulation.
The Maud Tigers won their first round of the playoffs 46-28.
Maud moves on to the second round of the playoffs and will face the #2 Timberlake Tigers Friday the 21st at Timberlake.
The game is set to start at 7 p.m.
