Maud Tigers Host Third Annual Basketball Tournament
Maud, Oklahoma was the location for the Third Annual Maud High School Basketball Tournament this past weekend. The tournament had eight teams competing in the tournament, including Maud.
Alex, Cresent, Depew, Fox, Life Christian, Maysville and Wetumka were the other schools competing.
The weather delayed the start of the tournament by one hour.
The Maud Tigers started their tournament off facing the Alex Longhorns Thursday evening. The Tigers fought a hard battle and kept it close but fell 35-42.
The Maud Lady Tigers started their evening off facing the Maysville Lady Warriors Thursday evening. The Lady Tigers struggled on offense and fell to Maysville 20-56.
The Tiger boys played Fox next in their quarter finals of the consolation championship bracket on Friday afternoon. The Tigers dominated the Foxes and came away with a big 65-35 win.
The Maud Lady Tigers faced the Life Christian Lady Eagles Friday afternoon in their quarter finals of the consolation championship. The Lady Tigers controlled the game from the jump and won by a score of 62-24 to advance to the championship.
The Maud Tigers were faced against the Life Christian Eagles for the Consolation Championship Saturday. The Tigers took control of the game early and didn’t look back. The Maud Tigers won the Consolation Championship 60-37.
The Maud Lady Tigers faced the Wetumka Lady Chieftains Saturday for their consolation championship game. The Lady Tigers couldn’t make their shots count as they struggled again on offense. The Lady Chieftains won the match 53-23.
The Cresent Tigers and Lady Tigers won the Tournament.
Next up for Maud is an away game on the 11th against Weleetka.
The next home game for Maud is on the 12th against Maysville. This game will be homecoming for the Tigers. The games will start at 6:30 p.m. with the homecoming ceremony at 6 p.m.
