Maud Tigers Fall to Visiting Vikings on Senior Night

The Maud Tigers hosted the Sasakwa Vikings Tuesday for their senior night. The night was threatened by storm clouds, but the baseball game still went on.

The Maud Tigers honored seniors Colt Abbott, Carsyn Bodkins and Jacob Glasco in between the middle school and high school baseball games.

The visiting Vikings went to bat first and got on board with Micah Wheeler scoring on a passed ball. The Tigers struggled and went three and out.

Sasakwa added to their lead at the top of the second with Josh Jones and Bryor Bible scoring on a ground ball, Joseph Lunn and Tre Walker scored on a line drive.

Maud lit up the score board at the bottom of the second when Koi Street scored on a passed ball.

The battle continued in the third inning. The Vikings continued with their offensive pressure and scored again with Ayden Livesay scoring on a ground ball, Jones scored on a walk and Lunn scored on a ground ball.

Maud fired back and Jessy Hames scored on a ground ball, Trey Marshall scored on a walk and Street scored on a walk.

The Vikings had a fivepoint lead heading into the fourth inning and continued to add more with Livesay hitting a home run, knocking in runner Titus Collins.

Maud continued to battle and scored another run by Micah Brooks.

Sasakwa went scoreless at the top of the fifth inning and the Tigers took the advantage at the bottom of the inning with Bodkins scoring on a ground ball and Colt Bassett scored on a ground ball.

The Vikings stepped up their offense in the sixth inning with Lunn scoring on a steal of home, Darius Henderson, Boston Lowe and Wheeler scored on a line drive, Titan Collins scored on a passed ball, Livesay and Collins scored on a steal of home and Jones scored on a passed ball.

Maud Tigers could not catch up and the game was called in the seventh.

The Sasakwa Vikings won the match 19-7.

Pitching for Maud was Colt Abbott who pitched 2.2 innings, allowing five runs, zero walks and two strikeouts. Carsyn Bodkins pitched two innings allowing six runs, walking zero and striking out four.

Pitching for Sasakwa was Austin Watters who pitched three innings, allowing two runs, walking two and striking out six.

Tre Walker pitched two innings allowing one run, two walks and striking out three.

Next up for Sasakwa is the Sasakwa Tournament the 16th through the 18th.

Next up for Maud is also the Sasakwa Tournament.
