Maud Lady Tigers Start Season at Home Against Macomb
Fall sports are back and the Maud Lady Tigers started off their season at home Friday evening against the Macomb Lady Hornets.
It was a hot evening, but the fans and the players were ready for sports to be back.
The Lady Hornets started the evening off at bat first. Macomb went three and out. The Lady Tigers went to bat and also went three and out in the first inning.
Macomb jumped on the board first with a single run in the second. Maud went scoreless again in the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Hornets added to their lead in the third with two more runs scored by a wild pitch and error.
The Lady Tigers lit up the scoreboard at the bottom of the inning when Abba Horton and Mariah Morgan scored on a hard ground ball by Natalie Brown. Maud took the lead when Brown and P. Porterfield scored to go up 4-3.
Macomb fought back and regained the lead at the top of the fourth with five runs scored. Maud struggled in the inning, but Horton scored a run on a passed ball.
The Macomb Lady Hornets took control of the rest of the game with eleven more runs scored in the fifth and sixth inning.
The Lady Tigers added one more run in the sixth when Horton scored on a ground ball.
Macomb won the game with a final score of 19-6.
Pitching for the Lady Tigers was Kylee Collins who pitched five innings allowing twelve runs, striking out six and walking four.
Abba Horton pitched one inning allowing seven runs, striking out zero and walking one.
Next up for the Lady Tigers is a home game against the Tupelo Lady Tigers today at 4:30 with the junior high starting first, followed by the high school.
