Konawa Tigers Claw Past Little Axe in Second Inning Thursday
The Konawa Tigers hosted their second game during the Spring Break week against the Little Axe Indians Thursday.
The Tigers are on a four-game winning streak with the win over the Indians.
Little Axe batted first and scored on a homerun to start the game. The Indians went three and out after the run.
The Tigers tied the game up when Tyler Whitley scored on a steal of home and Konawa took the lead with Hayden Moore scored on a ground ball.
The Indians regained the lead with two runs scored at the top of the second inning.
The Tigers figured out the Indians game and went on a 10-2 run in the inning starting with Isaiah Johnson scoring on a wild pitch, Whitley and Bennett Henson scored on an error, Cooper McKeel scored on a wild pitch, Greyson Snell scored on a wild pitch, Rayden Sitton scored on a ground ball, Moses Isaacs scored on a walk and Hayden Moore doubles on a fly ball knocking in Tyler Whitley, Isaiah Johnson and Bennett Henson.
Little Axe struggled on offense after the second inning and went three and out at the top of the third.
Konawa added to their lead with Snell and Josiah Hunter scoring on an error by Little Axe.
The Indians gave it one more inning but went three and out again and the game was called.
Konawa Tigers won 14-3.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Tyler Whitley with three runs and one RBI.
Bennett Henson, Greyson Snell and Isaiah Johnson scored two runs each. Johnson also had one RBI.
Pitching for the Tigers was Bennett Henson who pitched two innings, allowing zero runs, three walks and two strikeouts.
Greyson Moore pitched one inning, allowing three runs, six walks and four strikeouts.
Next up for the Tigers is an away game on the 23rd at Wayne.
The next home game is Tuesday against the Varnum Whippets.
The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity starting first, followed by the junior varsity.
