Historic Season Celebrated for Konawa Football Seniors and Award Winners

Posted in:

PRESS RELEASE Konawa High School football celebrated a season for the history books as players, coaches, families, and community members gathered to recognize the team’s remarkable accomplishments.

The 2025 season will long be remembered, as the Tigers finished with an impressive 8–3 overall record, claimed the district championship with an undefeated district run, and secured back-to-back playoff appearances.

Most notably, this season marked the first time in more than 30 years that Konawa football finished as undefeated district champions and earned the opportunity to host a playoff game—an achievement that reflects years of hard work, dedication, and steady growth within the program.

The evening began with recognition of the senior class, whose leadership and commitment laid the foundation for this success.

The seniors recognized were:

• Joseph Gore (#50) – Defensive Lineman

• Cooper McKeel (#40) – H-Back/Tight End/Defensive Line

• Riley Rogers (#64) – Offensive and Defensive Line

• Zander Carrillo (#11) – Cornerback/Wide Receiver

• Isaiah Johnson (#51) – Offensive and Defensive Line

• Jeremiah Ridley (#65) – Offensive and Defensive Line

• Glessler “Javi” Suazo (#30) – Kicker/Punter

• Tyler Whitley (#5) – Cornerback/ Wide Receiver

• William Wright (#58) – Offensive and Defensive Line Following senior recognition, attention turned to the district honors. In an eightteam district with roughly 250 players, All-District selections are voted on by opposing coaches—the same coaches who had to gameplan against these athletes throughout the season. Being named All-District is a true mark of respect earned across the entire district.

Konawa stood out with four All-District selections, an impressive achievement for the program:

• Tyler Whitley – All-District Cornerback Player of the Year

• Joseph Gore – All-District Defensive Lineman Player of the Year

• Cooper McKeel – All-District Tight End/H-Back Player of the Year

• Isaiah Johnson – All-District Comeback Player of the Year The evening concluded with a special recognition for the leadership behind the success.

Head Coach Jeff Tompkins was honored as the Class A-II All-District Coach of the Year, a well-earned distinction reflecting his commitment to building a disciplined, competitive, and resilient program.

The 2025 Konawa Tigers didn’t just win games—they restored pride, made history, and set a standard for future seasons.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, and community on a season that will be remembered for decades to come.
