Garcia Throws 3rd Complete Game as Volts Defeat Bandits
AUSL – Volts pitcher Rachel Garcia threw her third complete game of the season as the Volts (5-8) snapped a four-game losing streak by edging the Bandits, 5-3, in the first game of Monday night’s Athletes Unlimited Softball League doubleheader at a sold-out Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Former Oklahoma Sooner pitcher Sam Landry was held out for the day to be fresh for the Volts next game.
Key Moment : The Volts used home runs from infielder Tiare Jennings (former Oklahoma Sooner) and outfielder Amanda Lorenz to build a 5-0 lead through five innings before the Bandits mounted a comeback by plating three unearned runs in the top of the seventh inning. But Garcia struck out outfielder Bella Dayton to seal the victory.
Bandits Notes
The Bandits initiated a coach’s challenge in the bottom of the third inning after a base hit by outfielder Ciara Briggs advanced catcher Dejah Mulipola to second base … The challenge was successful, and the play was overturned after Mulipola was ruled out for leaving first base early.
The Bandits have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season.
After averaging 9.8 runs per game during their fourgame win streak from June 19-22, the Bandits have been limited to just six total runs in the last two outings.
Infielder Skylar Wallace saw her streak of reaching base safely in 12 consecutive games halted after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Outfielder Morgan Zerkle had her seven-game hitting streak come to an end after an 0-for-4 outing against the Volts on Monday.
Infielder Erin Coffel has reached base safely in all 12 appearances this season after going 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
Infielder Delanie Wisz has hit safely in three consecutive games after going 1-for-2 with two walks in Monday’s setback.
Outfielder Bubba Nickles- Camarena ended the Volts’ no-hit bid with a single in the top of the sixth inning.
Pitcher Emiley Kennedy allowed four runs on four hits over 3.1 innings in the loss, dropping her record to 0-1.

The Volts snapped a four-game losing streak with their 5-3 victory over the Bandits on Monday night … It is the squad’s first win since a 6-1 verdict over the Blaze on June 18. Outfielder Amanda Lorenz stands as the only player in the league to reach base safely in all 13 games this season after going 1-for-4 with a two-run home run … She has also hit safely in seven of her last eight games.
Catcher Dejah Mulipola posted her first multi-hit game of the season after going 2-for-3 with a run batted in … She had tallied one hit in her first six games.
Utility player Mia Scott ran her hitting streak to three games after going 1-for-3 with a run scored.
