Five Local Schools Battled It Out at LRC Tournament
The 2025 Little River Conference Fastpitch Tournament is in the books. This past weekend had ten local high schools battling it out for the championship crown.
Five of our local county high schools started their tournament on Thursday evening.
The Sasakwa Lady Vikings faced the Bowlegs Lady Bison on Thursday and fell 2-14 in their first round. The Lady Vikings moved on to face the New Lima Lady Falcons Friday evening and fell out of the tournament with a final score of 1-16.
The Bowlegs Lady Bison defeated the Sasakwa Lady Vikings 14-2 in their first round of the tournament. The Lady Bison faced the Moss Lady Pirates Friday night and fell 0-18. Bowlegs then faced the Macomb Lady Hornets later that evening and could not find their momentum and fell 1-12.
The New Lima Falconettes faced the #16 Varnum Lady Whippets to start Thursday night and fell 1-10. The Falconettes moved on to face the Sasakwa Lady Vikings Friday night and won 16-1. The Lady Falcons battled on to face the Mason Lady Eagle later that night and won 6-4. New Lima made it to Saturday to face the Moss Lady Pirates. The game was tied in the seventh, but Moss pulled out the win 9-7.
The Strother Lady Yellowjackets kicked off their tournament Thursday facing the Mason Lady Eagles and posted a shutout win 9-0. The Lady Yellowjackets moved on to Saturday to face the Varnum Lady Whippets, first thing in the morning. The game was a tough battle on both ends but the Lady Yellowjackets lost a close game by one run. Final score was 2-1 Varnum. The Lady Yellowjackets moved on to face the Macomb Lady Hornets right after and defeated the Lady Hornets 4-3 to stay in the tournament. Strother then faced the Moss Lady Pirates in the afternoon but fell short of their goal. Moss won 6-4.
The Varnum Lady Whippets started their tournament out on Thursday facing New Lima and defeated the Lady Falcons 10-1. Varnum moved on to face Strother Saturday morning and pulled out the win 2-1 to move on to the semi-finals. The Lady Whippets faced the Earlsboro Lady Wildcats Saturday afternoon in a shootout in the latter innings of the game. The game went extra innings, and the Lady Wildcats won the game 4-3 in the bottom of the 8th.
Varnum moved on to face the Moss Lady Pirates and took the early lead but Moss proved to be too much and won 9-5.
The Varnum Lady Whippets won the LRC Third Place Championship.
Next up for our Seminole County teams: Bowlegs will be home on the 11th against Moss. Games will start at 4:30 p.m. starting with junior high.
New Lima will participate in the Sasakwa Fast Pitch Tournament 11-13. Next home game will be on the 15th against Paden. Games will start at 4:40 p.m.
Sasakwa has their Annual Sasakwa Fast Pitch Tournament 11th 13th.
Strother will participate in the Sasakwa Fast Pitch Tournament also. The next home game for the Lady Yellowjackets against Paden on the 18th. This game will be Senior Night for Strother. Games will start at 4:30 p.m.
Varnum has an away game at Little Axe on the 12th. The next home game for the Lady Whippets is Weleetka on the 15th. Games will start at 4:30 p.m.
