Bowlegs Lady Bison hosted the Varnum Lady Whippets Monday for their second home game of the softball season.

The game didn’t go the way Bowlegs would have wanted it and were runruled in the game.

The visiting Lady Whippets went to bat first and took the early lead with Kalea Miller hitting a home run, knocking in runner Jenna Lofton and Riley Batchelor scored on a line drive.

The Lady Bison struggled on offense and went three and out in the first.

Varnum went back to work on offense and added to their lead when Miley Wildcat, Annakaren Prieto, and Lofton scored on an error, Miller scored on a walk, Batchelor and Karsyn Lowry scored on a ground ball at the top of the second.

Bowlegs continued to struggle on offense in the game and went scoreless.

The Lady Whippets dominated the third inning with Wildcat scoring on a walk, Prieto and Kenzlee Houck scored on a ground ball, Lofton scored on a fly ball, Miller scored on a line drive, Faith Madkins scored on a fly ball and Lowry scored on a line drive to post a shutout.

At the bottom of the third, Bowlegs made one more effort to get on the board but went three and out once more. The game was called with the Varnum Lady Whippets winning in a run-rule score of 17-0 after in the third inning.

Pitching for Bowlegs was Ruth Dunagan who pitched three innings, allowing 17 runs, 11 walks and three strikeouts.

Pitching for Varnum was Jenna Lofton who pitched three innings, allowing zero runs, walking one and striking out two.

Next up for the Lady Bison is the Weleetka Tournament the 26-28. The next home game is on the 30th against New Lima. The game is set to start at 4:30 with the junior high.

Next up for Varnum is also the Weleetka Tournament. The next home game for the Lady Whippets is the Varnum HS invitational on the 2nd-4th of April.
