Bowlegs Close Out Regular Season at Home
The Bowlegs Bison hosted the Paoli Pugs for their last basketball game of the regular season at home Friday night.
Both Bison and Lady Bison protected their home court over the Pugs.
The Lady Bison took control in the first with Ruthie Dunagan scoring 8 points from the field and Kasin Kolander finding her threepoint range to help Bowlegs go on a 15-4 run.
The defense of the Lady Pugs slowed down the Lady Bison in the second and only allowed 10 points scored from Bowlegs. The Lady Pugs tried to close the gap with 6 points scored in the frame.
The Lady Bison took a fifteen-point lead into the half. After the break, the Lady Bison applied the offensive pressure as several players found their three-point range in the third to help Bowlegs go on a 15-7 run to extend their lead. Kendall Perkins, Kloe Oyler and Marybeth Dunagan each knocked down a trey in the frame.
The Lady Pugs were looking at a 23 point deficit heading into the last quarter. Bowlegs let off the gas in the fourth and the Lady Pugs took advantage and scored 13 points but it wasn’t enough to catch the Lady Bison.
Bowlegs Lady Bison won the game 41-30.
Leading the way for the Lady Bison was Marybeth Dunagan with 9 points and one trey.
Teyha Coker scored 9 points and was one of four from the line.
Ruthie Dunagan scored 8 points from the field.
Next up was the Bison boys and the Paoli Pugs.
The Bison boys were ready to play and dominated the first half. Hunter Hamilton, Cayxin Parsons and Kingston Burgess each scored a three-point shot in the first to help the Bison go on a 25 – 0 run.
Bowlegs never let off the gas and continued with their momentum in the second. Hamilton and Burgess continued to shoot from three-point range and Tylar Lee scored six points from the field. The defense of the Bison continued with their pressure and held the Pugs scoreless in the second quarter.
Paoli was down by 45 points heading into the third quarter. Sam Frost of Paoli scored a three-point shot and was the only basket for the Pugs in the frame. Bowlegs continued with their offensive game plan and extended their lead.
The deficit was way too much for the Pugs to make a comeback rally but put 7 points on the board in the fourth.
The Bison boys never let off the gas and put on an aerial display of some threepoint shooting in the final frame from Parsons, Lee, Keaton Treat and Darious Morrison.
The Bowlegs Bison protected their home court with a final score of 83-10.
Leading the way for the Bison was Tylar Lee with 16 points and two treys.
Cayxin Parsons scored 14 points and two treys.
Darious Morrison scored 13 points and one trey.
Bowlegs now move on to Districts at Maud.
The Bowlegs Lady Bison will play Maud Lady Tigers on Thursday the 12th at 6 p.m.
The Bowlegs Bison will play the winner between Maud and Schulter on Friday the 13th at 7:30 p.m.
