Uh, Oh. Here it Comes, Ready or Not!

…And Then What Happened?
Posted in:

So far this year only, I’ve gone to 9 funerals of friends—most in the last few months. That’s overwhelming for me. It’s like mortality is shaking its finger at me. In the past few years, I’ve said it, as well as you, probably, that you check the newspaper obits first just to see if you are included. I’m not laughing at that anymore.

It used to be fun reading ‘You know you’re getting old when…’ Here are some of them: You know you’re getting old when…the candles cost more than the cake… when you’re reminiscing about the good old days… when you click the Life Alert button to see how many hot firefighters show up… (no I really never tried that—for that reason anyway).

And these quotes: Keep calm and be crazy, laughs, love, and live it up because this is the oldest you’ve been and the youngest you’ll ever be again.

The older I get it isn’t about how much stuff I have, or pride or ego. it’s about our hearts and who they beat for.

Don’t regret getting older; it’s the privilege denied to many.

Doing life with your adult children: Keep your mouth shut and keep the welcome mat out.

Some things we learn too late: Everything is temporary.

Life isn’t fair; family matters more than friends.

Others treat you the way you treat yourself.

Beneath anger, there’s always fear.

Happiness doesn’t just happen; it is always a choice and it requires hard work.

A lifetime isn’t always as long as you think.

The biggest risk is not taking a risk.

THINGS don’t matter so much.

You played it too safe. The consolation I get is from my belief is that death is not to dread for those who believe that Christ died for our sins and was resurrected and seen by many witnesses before He ascended into Heaven, promising He would one day come again and take those who believe in Him back with Him. This information is in the book that has always been the best seller because of the ways it has helped people through the ages live a more victorious life. Two versions are supposed to be closest to original translations are The King James Version of the Holy Bible and The New King James Version.

I’ll end with the first verse and chorus of one of my favorite songs from You-Tube’s Gaither Homecomings, entitled WHEN I GET CARRIED AWAY.

Well, I don’t know why I become a little shy When I get around a whole lotta people.

And I can’t figure out why I never can shout about the love that floods my soul.

Well, I must confess, I can’t express the feeling deep inside me.

But the thing I know and cannot show, one day will overflow!

Chorus: I’m gonna let the glory roll when the roll is called in Glory.

I’m gonna get beside myself when I get beside the king that day.

I’m gonna have the time of life when the time of my life is over.

I’m gonna get carried away … when I get carried away!

I hope this has lifted someone’s spirits, or caused ones to think about the inevitable. it doesn’t have to scare you. Satan encourages Hollywood to create scary, evil, dark movies to shock people because many people will pay for such entertainment; however, we were created to enjoy peace and to share peace with hurting people. It’s my prayer that this writing will help those to be more at peace with their lives and to stop fighting the process of aging with every method that’s out there. You are still a creation of God—even up to the end of your life!

Have a blessed week by blessing someone.
