Do You Know The Master of The Wind?
Every time I hear the word wind, I think of my younger years, growing up in Texas and Oklahoma where I loves being outdoors. I remember when the wind would start blowing, I’d just close my eyes, feeling the forces of Nature on my face. I wanted to face the windwhether warm or cool, hot or cold--as it touched my cheeks and blew my hair back. I still enjoy going outside when the winds whirl and hiss, blowing in fragrances of rain before a storm approaches. It’s then I experience the summer temperature changing from warm to cool. Even when I feel cool sprinkles of raindrops dancing on my skin, I won’t go indoors until lightening and thunder forces me to.
When I watched the Christian singer Candy Christmas overwhelmingly belt out the lyrics of MASTER OF THE WIND on a Gather Homecoming video, it reminded me of another dimension of the word wind The longer we live, the more we can reflect on life just like the song says: ‘My boat of life sails on a troubled sea, Ever there’s a wind in my sail, But I have a friend who watches over me, When the breeze turns into a gale.’
‘ I know the master of the wind, I know the maker of the rain. He can calm the storm and make the sun shine again. I know the master of the wind.’
The forces of Nature in our atmosphere can scare, shock, and threaten us. Or, we can feel awe-struct and inspired, knowing they’re part of God’s creation. When we have difficulty, we can feel like the song says, we are like a boat on troubled seas. If we learn who the master of the wind is, we then should not be afraid or ever feel alone.
The song continues: ‘Sometimes I soar like an eagle to the sky, among the peaks my soul can be found.
An unexpected storm may drive me from the heights, May bring me low, but it cannot bring me down.
I know the master of the wind. I know the maker of the rain.
He can calm the storm, And make the sunshine again.
I know the master of the wind.’
These words brings balance to the nature of the wind. It takes wind for the eagle to fly. But from stormy winds, it can feel being pulled low-- but it will not bring it down. Neither can storms bring us down if we have faith in the master of the wind.
May we think of this uplifting song written by Joel Hemphill when the storms of life challenge us. I believe in the Bible’s teaching where in James 4:14, it says, ‘...you do not know what will happen tomorrow. for what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes.’ And that is because this is not all there is to life.
After this short time on Earth, if we accept that Jesus died for our sins and was raised from the dead, then we will step into the eternity to live with Him. (If not, read what the options are in the New Testament part of the Bible.) More than 500 people witnessed Jesus’ resurrection, according to Paul’s writings in 1 Corinthians 15:6.
I’ve heard many people say they don’t believe God created our most complicated world. But isn’t it strange when they have serious challenges in their lives, they turn to God for help ‘just in case He is real.’ He truly is the Master of all things...even of the Wind.
Have a great week. Bless someone--even if it’s just with a smile.
