Close Your Eyes...And Just Breathe

…And Then What Happened?
Posted in:

What does chair yoga sound like to you? My daughter and I decided to try it out. We were surprised after we participated in the first session because we wondered how could the slow-stretching, relaxing exercises do much.

At the end of the session, the soothing voice of Instructor Amanda Hailey continued instructions by having us close our eyes, and just concentrate on our breathing as a time of relaxing meditation began. Soft music creates a peaceful mood. By that evening, muscle soreness in my legs, arms, and shoulders proved our experience had accomplished something. So, we have decided to continue with these classes as long as we can.

Scarlette says ‘I am learning to rest and must admit that more than once I have almost fell out of my chair as I began to relax during meditation. Thankfully, I caught myself before anyone could see me hit the floor!’

She also explained that after several years of trying to deal with hip pain, she is now pain free after continuing to stretch certain muscles.

She said ‘I am also thankful for an instructor who encourages us as she guides us in the proper way to move. I didn’t know SLOW, SPECIFIC MOVEMENTS could be so affective. So, thank you, Mrs. Hailey! The impact of your work is paying off for some of us who need it so badly. We appreciate you!’ Scarlette encourages people to come and learn these relaxing methods It’s worth it!

We look forward to this special time at the wellness center that is situated in a perfect area in the back of the building that is glass-enclosed, offering a view of flowering bushes and a well-manicured acreage with a pond and lots of beautiful trees. This scene adds to a pleasant experience for everyone.

Some of us are limited as what we can dowhether from aging or from results of surgeries-- but the important thing is to keep moving. When we sit for longer periods than we should, we become sluggish (or stagnant) and our muscles as well as our whole body begin to weaken. We can’t afford that because we don’t want to wind up in a facility where others have to take care of us for the rest of our lives. I personally consider my body as the temple of God, as Scriptures state. I have to take care of my body so I am able to do more for others, as well as for myself.
