Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Returns Saturday, May 9

Posted in:

On Saturday, May 9, letter carriers across central and western Oklahoma will collect nonperishable food donations from homes on their routes as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, presented by OG&E and American Fidelity.

Oklahoma residents will receive a plastic bag in their mailbox the week prior to the event. Residents are encouraged to fill the donation bag, or any plastic bag, with nonperishable food and leave the bag by their mailbox before their letter carrier arrives on Saturday, May 9.

“The beauty of Stamp Out Hunger is how it unites our communities through a simple act of giving,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “Donations collected through this drive directly support our neighbors experiencing hunger.”

All nonperishable items are welcomed. Recommended items include peanut butter, canned tuna and chicken, canned fruits, pasta and canned sauce, soup and stew. Healthy food options are also needed, such as whole grain and low-sodium.

To make a financial donation, text “StampOK” to 53-555. Every $1 donated helps to provide three meals to Oklahomans living with hunger.

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is additionally sponsored by CSAA-AAA Insurance, OU Health, WEOKIE Foundation, Bank of Oklahoma and the Oklahoman. For more information about the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, visit rfbo.org/stamp-out-hunger.
