Oklahoma State Auditor Byrd Announces Bid For Treasurer
Oklahoma State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd has officially announced her campaign for State Treasurer.
Byrd says she is running with a “bold, resultsdriven vision to bring transparency and oversight to the State Treasurer’s office,” adding that “the people of Oklahoma deserve accountability from the State Treasurer about the management of state finances.”
In 2018, Byrd made history as the first woman elected State Auditor & Inspector, earning the highest statewide vote total of any candidate in Oklahoma history.
Byrd says she brings unmatched expertise in how federal, state, and local dollars flow - and how government systems can be optimized for better returns and result in tangible improvements for Oklahomans – and keeping more money in Oklahomans’ pockets.
Byrd is also excited about helping to drive the mission of the Invest in Oklahoma initiative stewarded within the office.
“Over the past few months I have spoken out about the importance of investing in our homegrown businesses first and growing Oklahoma from within. That priority has not changed. This initiative will help strengthen Oklahoma’s economy, restore opportunity to homegrown businesses, and make the state more affordable for working families,” Byrd said.
Byrd holds a degree in Accounting from East Central Oklahoma and earned her CPA in 1997. She and her husband, Steve, live in Coalgate, where they remain active in their church and community.
“As State Treasurer, I’ll continue fighting for Oklahoma families, defending freedom, and holding government accountable,” Byrd said. “Together, we can lead Oklahoma into America’s Golden Age.”
