Seminole Sales Tax Down For Month And Year
The December release from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) shows the City of Seminole saw an increase in tax revenue in their latest return compared to last month. The release showed this revenue was also higher compared to December last year.
The City of Seminole’s Use Tax was also higher compared to last month, although it was less than last year’s return. The latest release explains the December distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from October business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from October 16th to 31st and estimated sales from November 1st to the 15th.
It also includes the statutory sales tax holiday reimbursements to cities and counties. The disbursement of $210,63,385 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $14,076,669 from the $196,553,716 distributed to them in November last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $43,398,717.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,161,653 sales tax disbursement and a $8,007,750 use tax disbursement.
The CITY OF SEMINOLE has a sales tax rate of .04 percent. The city received a $645,298.47 Sales Tax disbursement. This was $63,169.96 more than the $582,128.51 returned last month. The return was $62,012.46 more than the $583,286.01 reported last year.
The City of Seminole also receives a Use Tax, which is from purchases that are made out of state, usually from Internet sales. Seminole’s November Use Tax return of $73,788.29 was $6,924.72 more than last month’s $66,863.57. It was $9,313.47 less than last year’s $83,101.76 Use Tax return. This report shows SEMINOLE COUNTY, which has a sales tax rate of 0.0125, received a $295,203.45 sales tax disbursement for December. This was $2,486.37 more than the $292,717.08 returned last month. It was $14,995.56 less than the $310,199.01 returned last year. The Seminole County Use Tax return of $53,493.48 was $13,466.35 more than last month’s disbursement of $40,027.13. It was $3,411.69 less than the $56,905.17 returned last year.
The December sales tax disbursement for the CITY OF WEWOKA of $91,135.72 was $7,663.58 less than last month’s return of $98,799.28. This disbursement was $15,713.00 more than last year’s return of $75,422.72. This is the tenth report to show the recent rise in Wewoka’s sales tax from 0.04 percent sales tax to 0.0525 in January (this month’s returns are from October collections).
The City of Wewoka’s Use Tax return was $21,695.02. This was $3,866.35 more than the November return of $17,828.67. It was $4,013.97 more than last year’s $17,681.05 return.
The CITYOF KONAWA received a $27,836.30 December Sales Tax disbursement. This was $2,989.41 less than the $30,825.71 returned last month, and $5,039.01 less than the $32,875.31 return in December last year. Konawa has a 0.04 percent sales tax. The City of Konawa’s Use Tax return for December was $10,546.89. This was $4,251.37 more than last month’s $6,295.52 disbursement and $2,508.24 more than the $8,038.65 returned last year.
The CITY OF MAUD has a 0.04% sales tax and receives a tax disbursement for both Seminole and Pottawatomie Counties. The portion located in Seminole County showed a $10,023.35 return for December. This was $2,327.46 less than last month’s $12,350.81 return. It was $456.39 more than last year’s $9,566.96 return.
(Maud’s Pottawatomie County sales tax disbursement was $4,692.52 this month and $6,444.08 last year). Maud’s Seminole County Use Tax return was $1,984.25. This was $891.31more than the $1,092.94 November return. It was $1,046.46 more than last year’s $937.79 return. (Maud received a Pottawatomie County use tax disbursement of $3,924.77 this month and $3,782.86 last year).
The CITY OF CROMWELL received a $3,120.11 sales tax disbursement for December. This was $1,093.12 less than the $4,213.23 November return and $978.50 less than last year’s return of $4,098.61. Cromwell has a 0.03 percent sales tax. Cromwell does not receive a Use Tax disbursement. The CITY OF BOWLEGS received a $3,748.90 disbursement for December. This was $308.84 more than last month’s $3,440.06 disbursement. It was $68.48 more than last year’s $3,680.42 return. Bowlegs has a 0.03 percent sales tax. They do not collect a Use Tax. The CITY OF SASAKWA received a $2,075.06 disbursement for December. This was $164.93 less than the $2,239.99 November disbursement and $898.98 less than the $2,974.04 disbursement last year. Sasakwa does not collect a Use Tax.
