A man who was allegedly intoxicated led authorities on a pursuit across Seminole County Tuesday afternoon, all while a baby was sitting on his lap.

According to Seminole Police Chief Jon Withers, Shane Armour fled Tecumseh in a vehicle after taking an approximately one-yearold child away from its mother. Withers said officers were initially alerted of a reckless driver headed into Seminole, but soon a BOLO (be on the lookout) was issued for Armour and the infant.

Withers said a low-speed chase ensued with Armour heading east on Highway 270 towards Wewoka, which is under construction. The driver may have purposely tried to cause a head-on collision, according to Withers.

“During the pursuit, it looked as if he tried to hit construction trucks and other vehicles head-on,” Withers said.

The pursuit ended with Armour crashing out on 270 just outside of Wewoka, and—remarkably—neither Armour nor the infant were injured.

“The baby was not in a car seat. It sat on Armour’s lap throughout the chase, but officers removed the baby from the vehicle and it is now safe and sound,” Withers said.

The Seminole Police Department was assisted by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Department and the Wewoka Police Department.
