American Legion Post 204 is flying a special flag the month of December in honor of a highly decorated Korean War veteran. This month’s flag, which flies in Veterans Park north of the Seminole Municipal Building, honors Howard “Alabama” Patty, who passed away in 2016.

The latest Oklahoma Employment Security Commission’s (OESC) monthly employment report, released last week, contains the preliminary statistics for October 2024. This report shows that in October Seminole County had the fourth highest rate of unemployment in the state.

Governor Kevin Stitt announced Monday that he has named pastor and former State Representative Tom Newell as his new chief of staff. Newell represented District 28, which includes Seminole County.

The three-day candidate filing period for city council and school board seats across Seminole County will get underway early Monday morning. The filing period will be open Dec. 2 – 4 between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Seminole County Election Board, located at 123 S.
