Seminole Educator Honored As Top 20 Teacher in The State
A Seminole elementary teacher has been recognized as one of the top educators in Oklahoma.
Glania Trimble, a science and math teacher at Northwood Elementary School, was honored by the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) Friday morning in a special assembly at the school. From a pool of 1,200 nominees, Trimble was named as one of the top 20 teachers in Oklahoma by the OERB.
Trimble, who has taught at Northwood for 27 years, was presented with a $5,000 check from the OERB, and Northwood will receive $2,000. In addition, her sixth-grade class will get to attend an Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game.
“I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award than Mrs. Trimble,” said Dr. Bob Gragg, Superintendent of Seminole Public Schools. “She puts her heart and soul into those kids and is very involved with taking students to Camp Goddard every year. This is well-deserved.”
Northwood Elementary Principal Josh Edenborough praised Mrs. Trimble’s unwavering dedication.
“Mrs. Trimble has been a mentor for me since I became principal at Northwood. She is someone I can always rely on for support and advice. I love working with her, and our school is truly blessed to have her,” Edenborough said.
A current student echoed Edenborough’s sentiment, saying, “Mrs. Trimble is the nicest teacher ever! She is so kind, and her class is so fun. She always has the most exciting projects planned!”
The OERB was founded in 1993 by the state legislature at the request of the oil and natural gas industry. Its leaders’ vision was to leverage the collective strength of the industry to restore land associated with historic well sites and help support educators across the state.
Since 1993, the OERB has cleaned more than 20,000 historic well sites at no cost to landowners and has provided millions of dollars of free classroom equipment.
