Norman Man Killed In Crash Near Konawa
A Norman man was killed in a single-vehicle collision last week near Konawa.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 81-year-old James Johnsen (SIC) was northbound on CR-D3513 in a 2018 Jeep Wrangler and departed the roadway to the left, striking a tree. The Jeep rolled two times before coming to a rest on its wheels. Johnsen was ejected about 52 feet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened May 29 at approximately 7:39 a.m., about 4.5 miles north of Konawa.
The OHP listed Johnsen’s condition at the time of the crash, as well as its cause, as “unknown.” The Jeep’s equipped airbags were not deployed, and seatbelts were not in use.
The crash was investigated by Trooper Dion Wild of the Seminole/ Okfuskee/Hughes County detachment of Troop D.
