Local Man Earns DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award

Duke Haley, RN, a nurse with SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee, was recently honored with the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award. He was honored for being a great partner to both his patients and the staff he oversees.

Haley, a longtime resident of Seminole, is a charge nurse in the Emergency Department and has been with the hospital for nearly 16 years. A colleague shared, “Duke brings years of knowledge and experience to the team and he shares monthly safety team moments with everyone so they are aware of what is important… Duke has so many accomplishments that he has achieved throughout his many years of service. He is always humble and kind to everyone he meets.

“Anyone who has worked with Duke, even for a short amount of time, will have something positive to say about his work ethic and his dedication to his profession…He truly is a Daisy in a field of wildflowers...”

The DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award is given to nurses who have dedicated their lives to compassionate care. It recognizes those who have shown a lifelong dedication to compassion in nursing through mentoring, role modeling, advocating for their patients and promoting the positive image of nursing.

To be eligible for the award, nominees must have more than 25 years of service and a distinguished nursing career. They must also demonstrate a special and marginalized individuals.

Haley has lived in Seminole for 32 years and is married to Amanda. They have two boys and a daughter-

His training services and past certifications include Master Fire Fighter, instructor in emergency medical services and emergency vehicle operator course and many others. He has served as a CPR instruction trainer and county CPR program coordinator.
