Flag Flies in Honor Of Massay in June

Posted in:

American Legion Post 204 is flying a special flag the month of June in honor of a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps who was born and raised in Seminole.

This month’s flag, which flies in Veterans Park north of the Seminole Municipal Building, honors Mark Massay, who passed away in September 2021.

Massay attended Seminole Junior College where he earned a Certification in Petroleum Engineering, then went on to study Business Management at Oklahoma City Community College. He earned a Bachelor’s in Law Enforcement Administration from The University of Oklahoma and a Masters in Adult Education and Training from the University of Central Oklahoma. He followed his time in Germany as a hotel and conference executive with Marriott and other companies. The remainder of his working career was spent as a partner with his wife, Jeannie, in her counseling practice.

The local American Legion post honors a different deceased veteran each month, part of a national effort to bring awareness to local fallen service mem- bers. All veterans that have passed away are eligible to be honored. To nominate someone, contact Post Commander Carl Odom at

(405) 380-4615.
