Alzheimer’s Disease Focus of Presentation At Upcoming Forum

Posted in:

Information about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia will be presented during a program entitled, “Healthy Habits for Brain and Body” at the Seminole Chamber of Commerce monthly forum meeting on Thursday, July 10, 2025. The luncheon meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Haney Center at Seminole State College.

Forum attendees will learn about resources to support those impacted by Alzheimer’s and learn insights into how to make lifestyle choices that may help you keep your brain and body healthy as you age. Research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement, will be presented, along with how to incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.

The speaker for Thursday’s program will be Diane Powell, an Outreach Program Manager at Alzheimer’s Association, Oklahoma Chapter. Powell has been with the Association for the past ten years working to raise awareness and trying to reduce the stigma of dementia. She has served on the Dementia Friendly Tulsa Committee Initiative since 2017. Her previous work has been in nonprofit development.

The Alzheimer’s Association is a worldwide voluntary health organization dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Its mission is to lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. More information about the Alzheimer’s Association is available by visiting the website at alz.org or calling 800.272.3900. Thursday’s forum luncheon meeting of local civic clubs is open to the public. Cost for the meal is $15 per person.
