Seminole County claimed the unenviable spot of having Oklahoma’s second highest unemployment rate in July, according to the latest report from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC). The OESC report, released Aug. 29, shows Seminole County posted a jobless rate of 5.

Seminole County voters will take to the polls today in two separate special elections. All of Seminole County will vote on a proposed halfcent sales tax that will benefit the county’s ten area public school districts, the District Attorney’s education office and Seminole State College (SSC).

Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC), in collaboration with the Seminole American Legion, will hold its 25th annual Flag Retirement Ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The event will begin at 6 p.m.. at CVEC Headquarters, located at 11277 N. Hwy 99, Seminole, Oklahoma.
