Read moreAt a regular agency meeting last week, the Corporation Commission’s director of administration reported to the Commissioners that the OCC has contracted and continues to contract with vendors “under the existing OMES-established rolling solicitation process.” In her FY2022 Single Audit, the State Auditor and Inspector stated her position unequivocally: “[C]ontracts awarded under the Statewide Contracting pilot programs do not appear to meet State of Oklahoma competitive bidding requirements.” She also called out “an abuse of taxpayer dollars” and said, “This appears to be in violation of both Federal and State law.” In my opinion, this is certainly a problem, especially since the OCC director of administration has indicated that some of OCC’s federal grant dollars are involved with these pilot program contracts.

Read moreValedictorian: Carlee Jaymes Owen Carlee is the daughter of Jayme King and James Owen. She is the granddaughter of Teresa & Keith Russell, and Joann & Jerry Owen. Her siblings are Nicholas Haddox, Cameron Owen, and Carsyn King. Carlee has attended the Pre-Engineering Academy at Gordon Cooper Technology Center since her sophomore year of high school where she participated in skills USA. She is the valedictorian of her graduating class and a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. She has participated in basketball, baseball, softball, track, and cheer. Her hobbies include listening to music, sleeping, and doing absolutely nothing with Haleigh Martin. Carlee will be attending the University of Oklahoma in the fall where she will major in engineering. After graduating with her degree she plans to join the workforce as a civil engineer.
